Chances are if you are moving, even locally, you will be putting some of your extra possessions or furniture in storage.
Selecting a Self-Storage Facility
Location - Are you going to be accessing your storage often? Is it a transitional space best placed between the 2 locations?
How often do you need access to the facility. Most self-storage facilities allow for access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but some facilities have restrictions such as only during bussiness hours and yet others charge fees for that additional access.
Decide what climate controls you will need. Are you storing antique furniture or documents? Do you need air conditioning or humidity control? Some units
Packing a Self-Storage Facility
Plan your storage space. Place items in front that will be accessed frequently. Allow for walkways.
Keep your boxes in uniform sizes. They are much easier to stack that way and you will get the most space for your monthly fee.
Most public storage facilities have ample security, but it is always a good idea to purchase an ample padlock to place on your unit and do not keep valuables at the very front of the storage room.
Bicycles and other metal items may rust over time if not protected. To protect these items, wipe all metal surfaces with a rag containing a few drops of machine oil.
